What discoveries about the bottom of the atlantic ocean helped support the theory of plate tectonics?

Sound images revealed the spreading of the oceanic plates at the mid-ocean ridges. The rock was youngest at the ridge, and was older as distance from the ridge increased, clearly demonstrating the spreading and movement. This was also confirmed by the magnetic alignment of the rock on each side of the ridges.
