Unfortunately, it depends on the instructor. Some teachers feel the need to inject their political views into every thing they do. Too bad for the students. However, a good Earth Science class would leave out human politics (is there any other kind? like penguin politics?) Some biological evolution is inevitable in a discussion of fossils in a paleontological section of the class.
