I don't believe this stuff, but where is safer to be in an earthquake?

I don't believe it, but have anxiety. If you had to choose between 1. A house in the country on top of rolling hills (like hills bigger than small hills but a little smaller than mountains but still huge) or 2. A place on a flat surface but within a block or two of at least one tall building, which one is better? With the tall building down the road I'd be worried about dust clouds (think 9/11 dust clouds depending on the building, but I saw pictures of dust clouds in mountains, too. Anyway, would a hill be more dangerous if tectonic plates move or less dangerous (like for cracks that open into the earth's crust). Thanks.
