Howrse ~ grumpy players?

I just joined howrse recently, and I noticed there are loads of players who say stuff like 'don't accept random friend requests' and 'don't ask for advice, i got myself where i am with no help' blah blah blah. It seems to me that this is a really weird attitude to take, because howrse is kinda about socializing right, and its not like anyone learns anything about you from being your friend! This is just a random observation I made, and I was just wondering why these people bother going on it if they are gonna be so negative :P What do people think?
